Recommended Border Tile

Sahara Ceiling Tile - Sand

We recommend using Sahara Ceiling Tile - Sand as a border tile for Jackson Ceiling Tile - Sand.

For tiles that either project down into the room or are coffered (recess up into the ceiling), the finished look is often better when using a border tile for partial tiles on the room's perimeter.

These thermoform tiles are made from UV Stabilized .030" thick vinyl plastic. They are designed to provide all the functionality of conventional drop ceiling tiles at a fraction of the weight. The sturdy construction makes them a breeze to install, easy to clean, stain resistant, water resistant, dust free, and eco friendly! Installation is fast and couldn't be any easier.

Designed to fit all standard 15/16" - 1" T-Bar and 9/16" T-Bar Ceiling Systems. Most of the thermoform ceiling tiles come in two sizes, 2'x2' and 2'x4'.

FYI - If you have a 2x4 grid ceiling, but would prefer the look of the 2x2 ceiling tiles, simply insert a 2' center T bar available online or at most local hardware stores...it's easy!

Highlights:
The Jackson tile is a versatile option that can be used for both direct mount and drop ceiling applications. The 12" repeating pattern makes it a fantastic option for smaller areas. Its kaleidoscopic design creates the illusion of a coffered tile, which is a very cool effect if you want to create the appearance of depth. At .03" thick, it is twice as thick as many of our other grid tiles. Being that it is Class A Fire rated, it is an excellent choice for most businesses and homes. We are also proud to say that it is made in the USA.

Things to Consider:
If you are planning to directly mount these on your ceiling, the Grid Strips are a must have accessory for covering the seams between each tile. For direct mount applications, we encourage you to save a trip to the store by purchasing our Red Devil brand Direct Mount Adhesive. If you would prefer to pick up something locally, we have found that PL Premium Advanced (Loctite brand) works great.

Since your ceiling will more than likely have partial tiles at the perimeter, you will have to cut the tiles to size for those areas. Since the Jackson tile projects .45", it is not suitable to be used as a partial tile. Not to worry, since we have the perfect solution. You will notice on the product page that we have Recommended Border Tiles conveniently linked for your selection.

The thickness of the Jackson tile makes it capable of handling a bit of weight. If you'd like to keep your existing tile in the grid for acoustical/sound barrier purposes, you are able to do so without the risk of sagging. If your grid is already white and in good condition, it should match the white tiles very well. If you are going with a colored option, we highly recommend that you consider the Grid Tape or Grid Strips since they are color coordinated with the ProLite collection. If you would prefer to avoid the extra expense, you can of course paint your grid as well.

Greenguard
Greenguard Gold Certification offers strict certification criteria that considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly), and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System. Click here for more information.

UL Listing/Certification
Certain ProLite ceiling tiles are approved drop-out ceiling panels that can be installed beneath fire sprinklers. When exposed to heat from a developing fire, drop-out ceiling panels soften, distort, and fall from the ceiling grid. Heat from the growing fire activates the sprinkler which, unimpeded by the panels, controls or extinguishes the fire. Click here for more information.

Waterproof
Materials used in the construction of the tile(s) are 100% waterproof.

Class A Fire Rated
Tiles have been tested in accordance with ASTM 84e and scored a Class A rating for flame spread and smoke generation.

Great Product

This is a great product for sure. It looks great on our ceiling. Haven't finished the project yet, but it looks very nice. I wish it was also available in 12x12 tiles as well, it would make my project much nicer. I will end up having to cut these tiles, leaving a 3 dimensional edge to trim out, not my preferred method for sure. All in all, I would order this product again.

Had to be shipped 3 times due to damaged tiles

I had to call several times about damaged tiles - then they shipped again in damaged condition.

Hi Jonathan, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. I am really sorry for the damage that occurred during shipping. To happen once is frustrating enough, but to happen twice is unacceptable. Even though all products leave our facility in good shape, there are occasions where orders are not handled well during transit. Please know that no matter what happens, we stand behind our products and shipping no matter what, and as you experienced, we will re-ship immediately when things like this happen. Hopefully you were able to finish your project and love the look. We appreciate your business and look forward to being a part of your next project. Thanks again!

These tiles made our ugly popcorn ceiling beautiful

We thought we were going to have to live with our ugly popcorn ceiling in the kitchen, but then we discovered your beautiful tile. They were fairly easy to put up, a two person job, and required minimal amount of tools. The price was very affordable as well. I highly recommend these tiles.

Wish I would have installed ceiling tiles years ago.

I applied the tiles direct mount using the overlapping method. Whether to use the overlapping method is just something each person has to decide for themselves. I laid out a series of tiles on the floor and using the overlapping method just looked better to me. Plus that method fit our small rooms and edges best. In preparation for the tiles I first stripped off all the popcorn texture, applied joint compound where needed, applied a drywall sealer, then applied a high quality coat of paint (semi-gloss, primer paint combo) so that the tiles would have a good surface for the adhesive to stick to. All this preparation was necessary because when our home was built there was no sealer nor paint applied to the drywall before they applied the popcorn texture. If your popcorn ceiling was applied properly then you'll most likely be able to use the wet method of removal and perhaps will not have to apply a sealer and paint. I tried gluing the tiles to a non-painted but sealed surface and it didn't work. So make sure you apply a quality coat of paint before gluing up the tiles. Applying the tiles to a painted surface is recommended by the tile manufacturer. A word of advise --- measure twice, cut once. You'll become a pro in no time but there is a slight learning curve for cutting the tiles that go along the edges or around corners. The product support team at ProCeilingTiles was fantastic at answering my questions and helping with technical advice. It takes a little trial and error applying the paintable caulking along the edges but you'll get the hang of it. I purchased some color-matched paint to blend the caulking in with the tiles and crown molding. It looks fantastic. I am a do-it-yourselfer so I priced the tiles at various suppliers. ProCeilingTiles was definitely the best buy. I have many more rooms to remodel in this older home and will purchase all my tiles from ProCeilingTiles. Good luck and I hope you enjoy the final results as much as my wife and I.
