Old World style and modern day ease come together in our Legacy faux tin tiles. Intricate design elements with attention to the most minute of details provide beauty that is sure to enhance any room's decor.

Our Legacy tiles are made of durable, UV stabilized .030" vinyl. They are water resistant, easy to clean, lightweight and easy to install. And, because they are water resistant, Legacy tiles are mold and mildew resistant, too! All of our Legacy ceiling tiles have been tested and achieve a Class A fire rating - essential for commercial or residential installations that require a fire rating for ceiling tiles to meet local fire codes.

The Verona is a direct mount tile, meaning they are to be glued to the ceiling. These tiles give the decorative, tin ceiling look at an affordable price.

The Verona tile is a beautiful Direct Mount tile, with Old World charm. This pattern is often seen on stamped tin ceilings, so it's a great option if that is the look you are going for. The 6 inch pattern makes it a great choice for spaces both small and large. At .030" thick, it is twice as thick as our other series of tiles. You will love the way that they overlap. No seams to conceal, so there is no need to buy the Grid Strips. Great money saver!

Things to Consider:
Due to the flat nature of the design, the Verona is recommended for Direct Mount application only. It's just not quite rigid enough to be supported in a grid (without the risk of sagging over time), so we don't recommend it.

For direct mount applications, it is our experience that Dap Weldwood Contact Cement performs better than regular construction adhesive. If you would rather use adhesive, we highly recommend a formula by Loctite brand called PL Premium Advanced.

Since your ceiling will more than likely have partial tiles at the perimeter, you will have to cut your tiles to size for those areas. This can create a gap running into the wall with some styles. Since this tile projects only slightly at .125", you may not find the need for a border tile. Should you decide you need one, our Legacy Border Tiles are the perfect remedy.

Materials used in the construction of the tile(s) are 100% waterproof.

Class A Fire Rated
Tiles have been tested in accordance with ASTM 84e and scored a Class A rating for flame spread and smoke generation.

How to Install Verona Ceiling Tiles

Adhesives -vs- Staples
Adhesive is recommended when installing our vinyl tiles, because the tiles can crack when using staples. We recommend Red Devil General Purpose Construction Adhesive.

Tools Needed

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Chalk line (recommended)
  • Straight edge
  • Scissors or Aviation (Tin) Snips
  • Adhesive (about 1 tube for every 8 tiles)
  • Paper towels and water for clean-up
  • Eye protection

Surface Types and Methods of Installation

  • Sheetrock, Drywall, Plaster, Cement, Wood Paneling, Plywood
Install the tiles directly to the ceiling using an adhesive that is compatible with both the ceiling and the ceiling tile.
  • Wood Furring Strips
Furring strips are a great solution for rough ceilings that would require a lot of work to fix. Level with shims as you install them to give a flat mounting surface. Space out the furring strips according to your tile spacing determined below.
  • Popcorn / Stucco / Cottage Cheese Ceilings
Ceiling tiles should never be applied directly to popcorn ceilings. Either remove the ceiling texture, add a new layer of drywall or 1/4" hardiebacker over the surface, or install furring strips. NOTE: If removing texture installed before the mid-1980's, test beforehand for asbestos, which may require removal by a licensed contractor.

Determine Tile Spacing
Place a few tiles on the floor and measure your overlap. Measure the tile spacing in this position. The grid you draw will be smaller than your tile due to the overlap (e.g. if your tile is 23 7/8" and you have a 1/4" overlap, you will draw your grid at 23 5/8").

Planning Your Layout
Use grid paper and map out your ceiling. Indicate the position of lights, vents, and any other fixtures or obstructions to help determine your layout.

Consider the main, most visible area of your space as well as the longest runs of tiles. These are usually the lines you want square to your starting wall (used as the base for your lines). Most rooms are not square and many times tile layout is a compromise of room shape and border tile size needs.

Using the tile spacing you determined above, draw the tile grid in your layout. Many people prefer equal width border tiles on opposing walls, and a larger border is often preferred over a small one.

Mark Grid On Ceiling
Use a chalk line (or pencil) to put your layout onto the ceiling to keep everything straight. Be precise; if you are off by only 1/8" on each tile, after 8 tiles you will be off a whole inch! Space your chalk lines according to your determined spacing.

Before You Begin
Your surface needs to be smooth, clean, and dry. Test your adhesive and tile combination in a small area before committing to doing the whole ceiling.

Installing the First Tile
Make sure all surfaces are clean, as well as your hands. Any oils on the ceiling, tiles, or your hands can affect the adhesive performance. Latex gloves are a great option, keeping oils off the tiles and keeping your hands clean of adhesive.

It is easiest to align the two edges of the tile with the lip to the drawn grid lines (e.g. the bottom and right edges if you are working from top to bottom and left to right) so that you don't cover any lines you'll need for a subsequent tile. Make sure that the edge(s) with no lip start against the wall, since the next tile needs to overlap the lip.

Apply a 1/8" to 3/16" bead of adhesive all the way around the perimeter of the backside of the tile as well as a 4" "X" to the center section. Keep a damp towel handy to clean up any adhesive that may seep out.

Gently place the tile close to its final location next to your chalk lines. Lightly press the tile to the ceiling as you slide it into position. This lets the adhesive spread out and smear a bit. Once you are satisfied that the tile is in place, firmly press it to the ceiling, rubbing out any bumps in the adhesive.

Second Tile
Use the same gluing technique as the first tile. Place the second tile next to your first one, aligning to the same edges of the grid lines (e.g. bottom and right) as your first tile. It should overlap the lip of the first tile by your predetermined amount. Continue to place full sized tiles, following your grid lines.

Border Tiles
Measure the open space from the installed tile to the wall, adding overlap distance. Make sure to take measurements at each end of the space, as the measurements are often different due to inconsistencies in construction. Make sure the tile is facing the correct direction. Transfer your measurements to your border tile and cut it.

Verona tile

I ordered tiles for a project I was doing because metal was just to expensive. I put my order in and it was recieved and shipped extremely fast, packaged well, and a perfect product, with good installation instructions. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Customer service emailed to let me know when it shipped and if I needed any help or advice to contact them. As it ended up I ordered 7 more tiles for a small area. I would order without hesitation from this company again. 5 stars
